Who are we?
Swimming Skyward is comprised of multi-instrumentalist Chris Sankey and vocalist Nico Mira. We both sing, compose and arrange together. Swimming Skyward is the result of decades of eclectic music development. From bluegrass to surf, from pop to metal to progressive endeavours, our band has built its chops while always seeking out the melodic but also surprising, original corners of music composition. Our primary intent is to transmit creative playfulness through our music and help foster the next generation of revolutionaries one beat at a time. No one ever said you can't dance while you tear down barriers!
Our Project
The not-for-profit project When It's Over started with a melody casually planted into the arid soil of a global pandemic. There will be no beating Covid-19 unless the vast majority of the world's population is vaccinated. And yet, as rich countries now plan for a 3rd round of vaccine distribution, the bulk of nations worldwide can barely afford their first. This tune was developed and recorded with the intent to raise funds to help bridge this disparity. However modest the contribution received from donations, it will be at least one step in the right direction. Please consider downloading our song. All profits will be donated to the Unicef campaign #GiveAVax.
